QLD: More arrests at Gordonstone mine
The Gordonstone coal mine dispute about the sacking of miners by the former mine owner Arco
goes before the Federal Court today.

More than 50 picketers at the central Queensland mine have been arrested by police as
sacked workers stepped up their protests in the 17-month dispute.

The picketers -- who believe sacked workers should be given first preference on the mine
jobs -- arrived in force to prevent a busload of contract workers from leaving the mine site
near Emerald.
