In one brilliant flash - 20 minutes of lightning warfare that rocked the old airport hangar they now call Houston Field House - the new general had made his first conquest.

The RPI hockey team, aided by a stunning first period in which it scored five times, held on for a 5-4 victory over the University of New Hampshire Saturday night, giving new coach Buddy Powers his first victory.

It was also the Engineers' first victory in 11 games, dating back to last season.

Joey Juneau and Bruce Coles, a pair of juniors whose immense hockey talents seemingly laid dormant most of last season, were at the center of the charge that left UNH attempting to catch up the rest of the game.
