NSW: RAAF denies man breached security at key Games base
SYDNEY, Aug 19 AAP - The Royal Australian Air Force has rejected a media report today
that claimed a serious security breach occurred at the RAAF Richmond base overnight.
Sky News reported earlier today that a man breached security at the base, north-west of Sydney.
Sky's unsourced story said the man wore a uniform and managed to enter the base last
night before he was detained.
He allegedly had a uniform and had attempted to enter military premises previously, Sky reported.
Squadrons of the Special Air Service Regiment and Black Hawk helicopters have been
stationed at the base as a precaution against terrorist attacks during the Sydney Games.
A spokesman for RAAF Richmond rejected the Sky news report as inaccurate.
"One of our blokes was on the turps and had to be put to bed," the spokesman said.
"That's all that happened.
"There was no breach of security."
