Fed: Crean warns PM on Iraq

The federal opposition says Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD is playing a dangerous gameby trying to make political mileage out of Australia's possible involvement in a war withIraq.

Opposition leader SIMON CREAN says Mr HOWARD's comments last week that a war with Iraqis more probable than not are unwise.

Mr CREAN says Australia should try to get UN weapons inspectors back in Iraq becauseconcerns about Iraq are essentially about its capacity to use weapons of mass destruction.

He says Labor will support Australia's involvement in military action, but only ifthe US can prove a link between Iraq, SADDAM HUSSAIN and OSAMA BIN LADEN.

Mr CREAN says he will get behind action against Iraq if it's justified -- but not onthe basis of hype from the Prime Minister.
